Bio

Simone Franco was born on July 2, 1988, in Mestre, near Venice. After finishing a scientific high school diploma, he studied sound engineering at the Accademia del Cinema di Bologna. He started out as a warehouse porter, then worked his way through event general labor, carpentry, electrical work, sound engineering, and lighting. He later moved into production as a transport coordinator, organizing logistics in Venice and managing portering crews. Over the years he worked closely with well-known names such as Mestre Cinema, 360, RENT, and several service companies across northern Italy. He closed this chapter of his career in Italy in 2015, moving to Berlin.

Once in Berlin, he spent four years at THE REED in Alexanderplatz, where he honed his skills as a technician, single-handedly managing equipment worth more than two million euros.

In that technological playground he learned an enormous amount, unifying every device in the venue into a single real-time control pipeline built on TouchDesigner. That hands-on experience taught him exactly how each piece of the puzzle works. He personally built the servers capable of driving it all.

THE REED has unfortunately since closed and no longer has a website.

Once that chapter as an employee came to a close, he began his freelance career, collaborating with major brands such as Coca-Cola and Unesco, and with prestigious institutions such as the ZKM in Germany — and winning awards in artistic-technical competitions, including for an installation made together with Overlapping, a Berlin-based studio, for the Schlosslichtspiele, a mapping festival held in Karlsruhe, a city recognized by UNESCO for new media art.

Above all, he is a passionate computer graphics enthusiast, and for many years he has loved sharing his knowledge for free on YouTube and Patreon.
